This is how I became a podcast creator. I started writing professionally ten years ago, thus blogging. Blogging is the first thing i did after being a fan of the internet for years as a young woman.
I love writing, reading and listening to radio programs. My love and passion for writing led me to become a very successful blogger. I initially started as an independent writer for the New Independent Newspaper and Today Newspaper in 2012.
After a few months, I decided to create my own blog to reach a wider audience with my articles, opinions, etc. My first blog was on Wordpress blog platform. The blog got nominated as the ‘Best New Blog’ in the first year by Ghana Blogging Awards in 2013. I was very honored and excited for getting the nomination. It motivated me to do more work and expand my reach and strengthen my brand. I still write, so I still blog on several websites.
However, I have moved into other sectors on the internet and it is podcast creation. I started podcast creation three years ago, and my first platform was Anchor. I was watching videos on YouTube one day when I saw a video about a podcast recommended to me. I watched the video and I took interest, hence, deciding to start my own podcast channel to gain more audience for my brand.
I researched about the types of podcast platforms and which one will be direct to use. I got more than three results but I decided to start my podcast on Anchor podcast.
ANCHOR PODCAST- Anchor podcast is a direct platform for newbie podcast creators who want to start a career on podcast creation. I signed up and started working on my platform to spread my educational and informative opinions. Honestly, I immediately loved podcast content creation because it is fast, less expensive and easy to use. Anchor podcast automatically send your content to other social media platforms where people can listen to you. I did not have to send my content manually to these platforms. I love using Anchor for posting my podcast stuff because firstly, it is easy to use. It has flexible features and as a beginner, you immediately and easily is able to make your first podcast platform with no difficulty.
Secondly, Anchor podcast is monetized with zero followers or audience. After signing up, you are immediately allowed to sign up for monetization. This is one of the reasons why I love using Anchor podcast. I make money on this platform every month.
Also, on Anchor podcast, it is easy to build a large audience within a short time. Within a month of being on the platform, I was able to have about a thousand followers.
Aside Anchor podcast, there other free podcast content creation platforms, and they include the following:
BUZZSPROUT - is another podcast platform with direct and paid plans. There is not much difference between the direct and paid plan. It is just the size that makes the difference. I joined Buzzsprout podcast two years ago after I became familiar with Anchor and wanted to try other platforms. I like Buzzsprout for various reasons. Firstly, unlike Anchor podcast, they have different ways of monetization. On Buzzsprout, even on a direct platform, you can monetize with their official monetize program. Another way to make money on Buzzsprout is by working with other companies. On this podcast platform, it is also easy to reach a large audience as your podcast is automatically disseminated on other platforms. Buzzsprout has within a short time garnered a lot of users and they keep spiraling upwardly.
PODBEAN- is the oldest and most popular podcast platform in the world. I also create podcast content on this platform. Unlike Anchor and Buzzsprout podcasts, you have to be on a paid plan before you monetize on Podbean. However, there is a free plan for everyone to use. Almost every popular influencer and journalist who do podcast content creation is on Podbean. I enjoy using Podbean because its interface is very nice and easy to use. One of the things I love also about this podcast platform is how you can create content on the spot at anytime and anywhere.
SOUNDER- is also a direct podcast creation platform, and it is similar to the Anchor Podcast. I have another podcast on sounder and it is doing okay. The features of sounder is not as easy to use as Anchor and Buzzsprout. As soon as you join Sounder, you can monetize the channel immediately with no followers.
I have grown to like podcast creation and I think it is because I always like to be behind the scenes and not in front of the camera.
You can decide to do a free or paid podcast on either of the above mentioned platforms. If you want to start a podcast with a free plan, research about podcast platforms such as Buzzsprout, Podbean, Sounder, Anchor, among others. Select the platform that fits into your vision and join them either for free or paid. However, if you want to start a podcast channel on a bigger scale immediately from the start, you have to select the paid plan since it will come with a larger space.
I like the rise of many podcast platforms by popular and rich YouTube personalities like Logan Paul, Jeff Wittek, Tana Mongeau, George Janko, Myron Gaines, among others. Aside the posting of content on their respective YouTube channels, they do podcast stuff as well. I watch some of their podcast content regularly.
Make a move and start a podcast today and you will make more money than you expect. I have made at least a thousand dollars from podcasting and it helps me a lot. Do not hesitate to start a podcast channel today because you feel that it may be difficult but it is actually easy to start. It is easy to start because podcast platforms like Anchor, Buzzsprout, Sounder and Podbean have music plans to use.
